i decided that since max is a big boy now i would try leaving him out of his crate when i went to the chiropractor this morning. the office is literally right down the street from me so i knew i wouldn't be gone too long and he had done well when i left him yesterday for a half hour or so when i went to give blood. i made sure his bladder and bowel were empty before i left, put the houseplants on the dining room table, and gave him a chew and was on my way. perhaps it was because he had dry dog food not homemade like i treated him to earlier this week,* maybe it was because i forgot to leave the tv on, maybe it is because he is a rotten little turd, but when i came home that was just the present he had left me, not on the floor where i could maybe have overlooked it as an accident, but instead - on the hearth of the fireplace that he has to hop up to get on.** let's just say when i went shopping this afternoon, his furry little but was back in the crate.
*i chop up plain, poached chicken breast, brown rice, peas and carrots, mix in a TINY TINY TINY bit of garlic and a healthy shake of parsley, then i give him about 1/2 with a little of his dry kibble in it..he doesn't get it every day so don't roll your eyes, just once in a while for dietary variety.
**andrea w. and all other people in the English/editing know-how, please ignore that giant run on sentence, thanks :-)
