i know, i know, i haven't even posted anything about my last trip and now here i am off again. On Sunday I'm leaving for Washington D.C. and staying there until the wee hours of friday morning (okay 7 am) when i will be catching a plane for CALIFORNIA!!!!
i am beyond excited for many reasons.
- i love Washington DC and i'll have 4 days, 6 nights, to explore at my leisure without anyone to complain about how much time i spend looking at a painting (my husband admittedly has little appreciation for non-contemporary art and he will be busy during the day)
- whilst in DC i'm staying in crystal city which i enjoy very much due to it's proximity to the metro :-)
- i'm going on a cruise pretty much immediately after i get to california, something i love - pair that with someone i love, and you pretty much can't go wrong unless pirates or icebergs are involved.
- the older i get, the more i realize and appreciate the luxury of any time i get to spend with my friends, especially when those friends live 2,448 miles, 36 hours by car, 33 days 22 hours by walking, away.
canada was great - we drove to winnipeg one day which looks like a pretty neat place - lots of museums and fun things to do - we only had a few hours there though since it was a 4 hour drive each way and i didn't really want to meet any moose on the highway going back to the cabin.
it was such a long drive and i loved going up there and it was very pretty, but man it was a long drive!!
one day we went out on a back lake and i caught a 26 inch northern pike and then dennis stuck his fingers in the things mouth (!!!), he had his revenge later that night at the fish fry. he caught a huge northern..or maybe hybrid muskee, literally about 48 inches long but i hit it with the net when i was trying to get it in the boat and lost it :0( i cried and was more upset than dennis was. since i felt bad i decided to tie his hook back on for him and let him fish on my pole, well i hadn't more than finished his rig when he lost mine, then i retied mine and he lost his again, then i made him move the stupid boat (we were fishing for walleye which like rocky points but the wind was horrible and it was hard not get too close with the teenytiny motor we were using that day)
the cabins were nice, the scenery was beautiful, the boats we used kicked butt (with the exception of the back lake which was understandable). it was hard not being there with my dad in person but i'm sure he was there with us. i would like to write more but i am going to get a shower and then max and i are going to see my granny - she broke her wrist and is a little bummed out - pictures of my trip can be found on my myspace or my facebook!!
